Today we are speaking with the Founder of Train Like A Gymnast, Wilhelmina Fitness Model, Certified Personal Trainer Danielle Gray.
Danielle is a formerly
competitive Junior Olympic gymnast who retired from the sport
before college. After graduating from the University of Southern
California in Public Relations, she worked full-time at a digital
marketing agency and part-time as a gymnastics coach. Once she
realized she forgot she was getting paid for coaching, she turned
down a promotion at her desk job and pursued personal training and
fitness modeling. She founded her own company, Train Like A
Gymnast, to show people how much more capable they are. Her
training style is challenging, yet approachable with a heavy focus
on form, mindfulness, and intention. She is also a Wilhelmina
Fitness Model, an iFit Trainer, a Ninja Warrior, an aerialist,
among many other things. If you follow her on Instagram, you can
see her adventures with acro, pole dance, travel, and walking her
cat Zara.
In this episode we discuss:
1) The power of our
stories, sharing authentically, and how we can continue to help
others not feel alone in their struggles and stories. We
discuss mental health, suicide, asking for help and how to support
others, and how darkness and light can exist at the same
time.
2) The process of making decisions to leave one
job to pursue her passion of helping people train like a gymnast,
to building her company and app, and where the vision of her
company is going.
3) The pros and cons of a lifetime of
competitive gymnastics and how that has challenged and prepared her
for the work she is doing today.
