In this episode, we talk about the difference between self-confidence and self-worth, and I am fully supported in this content by the book “Worthy” by Jamie Kern Lima. The content in this book fully supported me as I walked through a very challenging situation in my business.
In this episode, we discuss:
1) Your self-worth is your foundation, and
self-confidence is the house you build on top of it. Your
house will only be as secure as the foundation you build it on.
When you have a strong foundation of self-worth, “it can ensure
these 3 important things, First that you don’t stay stuck because
you feel unworthy or not enough to go after them. Secondly, that
you don’t sabotage your success along the way, and thirdly, that
when you do achieve the things you want in your life, you can enjoy
them and feel fulfilled in the journey.”
2) Your self-worth is independent of what’s happening on the
outside. It’s independent of your strengths and
weaknesses. It’s independent of your successes and
failures. Your self-confidence will fluctuate easily based on
what you are experiencing and walking through. Your self-confidence
can shatter when you face a painful failure, a setback, or a
rejection.
Today I am sharing a personal example that I walked through less
than 48 hours before I gave a keynote speech and how learning the
difference between self-worth and self-confidence was a
game-changer.
